How the Tanning Process Works.
Tanning indoors at a salon provides a gentle, controlled way to tan by exposure to lamps with a spectrum similar to that of the sun.

A combination of both UV rays are necessary for optimum tanning results. UVB primes the skin by stimulating the formation of pigment or melanin. UVA oxidizes the melanin and the skin darkens.
